Statuses — designing your own process

Statuses are the backbone of everything in Easyitem. Filters, counters, automated rules and reports all rest on them.

Every module has its own statuses: orders in OMS, products in PIM, warehouse orders in WMS, offers in OmniChannel. They work the same way everywhere and everywhere they can be gathered into groups.

Why groups: you then filter the list by a whole family at once — a "Completed" group covering "Shipped" and "Cancelled", for example. Ungrouped statuses work too, but with a few dozen of them the list gets long.

Three tips from practice:

  • Do not multiply statuses needlessly. Each should match a real decision or a real stage, not a shade of the same one.
  • Name them as states — "To ship" says more than "Stage 3".
  • Plan return statuses from the start, because a return is run through statuses.

A status is both a trigger (Status set, In a status for a given number of days) and an action (Change status). It is the simplest way to let an order move through the process by itself.
