What is OmniChannel and how is it different from a plain integration?
A plain integration pulls orders in from a sales channel. OmniChannel works the other way round — it publishes and looks after your offers across many channels at once.
The module has five screens: Offer list, Statuses, Automated actions, Statistics and Settings.
The key idea is replication: you take one source offer and copy it to further accounts and platforms. From then on Easyitem keeps the price and stock consistent everywhere.
The most important rule you can build here — the one the Easyitem Sync page talks about:
- When: "Offer purchased"
- Do: "End the offer on the remaining accounts" or "Reduce stock on the remaining accounts"
This is exactly the case where the last item sells and the offer disappears from the other channels — without polling every fifteen minutes and without clicking anything.
OmniChannel also reacts to marketplace events (offer bid on, source offer price or stock changed, source offer ended) and to its own replication and publication events — including failures: "Offer replication error" and "Offer publication error" are triggers worth basing a notification to yourself on.
Where OmniChannel gets its data
This is the core of Easyitem's architecture and it comes down to two sentences:
- PIM is the source of product data — descriptions, images, parameters, categories and prices the offer is built from.
- WMS is the source of stock levels — it tells you how many pieces are really on the shelf.
So OmniChannel holds no truth of its own about the product or the stock. It assembles the offer from PIM data, puts the WMS stock behind it and keeps both consistent across every channel. On the offer list you see this in the stock relation / quantity column.
The practical conclusion: you fix a description in PIM, not on the offer, and stock discrepancies are explained by the warehouse, not the sales channel.
The trigger list also contains a PIM group — adding a product in PIM can start publishing an offer.
What OmniChannel will not do on its own: it will not maintain product data (that is PIM) or count stock (that is WMS). By itself it can publish and replicate offers; for it to do so from your data and your warehouse you need Easyitem Sync.
