The packing card, scanning and the packing assistant
Order settings contain two sections that together describe packing.
Scanning and search
Here you set what the search reacts to and what happens after a code is scanned. Four tabs: Search, Search in return status, Search in packing status, Copied SKU format.
The key setting is Search by order number — you choose the action that fires on the order list when a number is supplied (by scanning a code, for example). Typically that is the Packing assistant: you scan the parcel and its packing view opens straight away.
Separate settings for the return status and the packing status let the same scanner behave differently depending on what you are doing.
The packing card
The Packing card section controls what the packer sees: statuses, product colours and keyboard shortcuts. Colours and shortcuts are not decoration — at dozens of parcels a day they decide the pace.
Related trigger: Products packed in an order (Packing assistant group). Build a rule on it that changes the status, creates a shipment or messages the customer once packing is done.
