How products get from PIM into your sales channels

PIM does not publish anything by itself. It is the data source — publishing offers is OmniChannel's job and shipping is WMS's. Worth knowing from the start, otherwise you look in PIM for a button that is not there.

A product travels like this:

  1. You fill in the product card in PIM — description, images, parameters, price.
  2. In OmniChannel an offer is built from it, which you replicate to the accounts and platforms you choose.
  3. When someone buys, the order lands in OMS.
  4. WMS pulls the order from OMS and walks it through the warehouse.

The division of roles is simple: PIM provides product data (description, images, parameters, price), WMS provides stock, and OmniChannel assembles the offer from both and keeps it in line across channels. OMS collects the orders those offers produce.

The modules are joined by Easyitem Sync. You can see it in the trigger lists: OmniChannel has a Product added in PIM trigger, and WMS has a whole PIM group (product created, edited, price or VAT rate changed, deleted). So adding a product in PIM can start publishing an offer or updating warehouse data on its own.

This whole path rests on Easyitem Sync. With PIM alone you can describe and organise products, but you cannot list or ship them — that needs OmniChannel and OMS. What is Easyitem Sync?
