Picking routes — the pool, expiry and planning rules

A picking route is a planned path through the warehouse that collects items from several orders in one pass.

Route statuses: Ready (waiting in the pool) → Taken (a picker took it) → Completed. A route can also be Released — it then returns to the pool.

The screen shows counters for each status at the top, together with pieces and order counts, and next to them two things worth a daily look:

• Expired in the pool — routes nobody took in time. They block goods: the items are reserved, so they cannot be collected onto another route.
• Next expiry and oldest route — they warn you before a jam builds up.

List columns: route, status, warehouse, pieces, orders, capacity, reserved for, taken by, cart, expires, created.

Two buttons do the work here:

• Plan a route — planning the next route by hand.
• Planning rules — the conditions under which routes are created on their own: how many pieces, how many orders, from which zone.

Planning routes in reaction to an order from OMS works thanks to Easyitem Sync — the "Order downloaded from OMS" trigger comes from another module. Without OMS you are left with manual and scheduled planning.

Routes can also be planned automatically — WMS automated actions include a Plan picking routes action, which works well with the scheduled trigger or with "Order downloaded from OMS".
